With more than 500,000 apps, there’s an app for just about anything in the App Store. But we didn’t know there was an app for creating fake driver’s license. If you were hoping to get it, you can’t as MacRumors reports that Apple has removed the app aptly called Drivers License from the App Store after getting a complaint from U.S. Senator Bob Casey of Pennsylvania.
The Coalition for a Secure Driver’s License issued the following statement today:
The “License” application by DriversEd.com for Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad allows users to electronically insert any digital photo and the biographic information of their choosing into a template for a driver’s license of a state of their choosing. The “License” application contains templates for driver’s licenses for all 50 states, many of which are of designs that will be valid for the next several years. The user is then able to send the high quality digital image of the completed template to an email account. From the email attachment, the image can then be printed and laminated, creating a high quality counterfeit driver’s license difficult to discern from one that’s genuine.
Here’s what Senator Bob Casey had to say in his letter to Apple:
“I believe this application poses a threat to public safety and national security…it can be used in a way that allows criminals to create a new identity, steal someone else’s identity, or permit underage youth to purchase alcohol or tobacco illegally. National security systems depend on the trustworthiness of driver’s licenses, yet with a counterfeit license created by the app, a terrorist could bypass identity verification by the Transportation Security Administration, or even apply for a passport.”
It looks like the app has been available in the App Store for two years now and Apple seems to have removed it only after Senator Casey raised the issue as they had not responded to a similar request by the Coalition for a Secure Driver’s License.
Here’s the description of the app from the App Store:
Create your coolest license EVER. With Drivers License, you can make realistic, crazy, or hilarious drivers licenses for any state.*
Take pictures with your iPhone or use pictures you already have and paste them into to the app for endless hours of fun. Take pics alone or with friends, take mug shots or make faces, whatever you can think of, this app will support it.
Drivers License lets you change all the info on the licenses, too! Create a fake name, job, or title. The app stores everything you do so just hit “change state” to see what your license looks like in New York or sunny California.
Best of all, once your license is complete, you can email or share it with your friends on Facebook.
Based on the description, it seemed like a fun app, but we may be too naive to understand the seriousness of the risk such an app could pose. What do you think?

A rights policy template is an extensible Rights Markup Language (XrML) version 1.2 document that can be applied to content and used to generate an issuance license. Templates can contain the following information:
- A template name and description.
- Users and groups that can be granted content licenses.
- The rights and associated conditions granted to the users.
- The content expiration policy.
- A set of extended policies.
- The template revocation policy.
- A revocation list.
- A revocation list refresh interval.
- A public key file for the revocation list.
Official Templates
https://kbentrancement558.weebly.com/how-to-download-torrent-file-with-eagle-get.html. Only the Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS) administrator can create official rights policy templates for an organization. Because the server retains and uses the latest copy of a template when it signs a client issuance license, it is possible that the issuance license submitted by the client was created from an outdated and inaccurate template.
Beginning with Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Windows Server 2008, the AD RMS client can automatically obtain templates from an AD RMS server by using a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) job in the task scheduler. If the task is enabled, the AD RMS application should call DRMEnumerateLicense to enumerate rights policy templates.

Prior to Windows Vista with SP1 and Windows Server 2008, templates could only be distributed by using Group Policy, Systems Management Server, or an out-of-band mechanism.
Unofficial Templates
If you are not an administrator, you can create unofficial templates by first calling DRMCreateIssuanceLicense and defining the appropriate validity period, users, rights, and metadata. For more information, see Creating a License From Scratch. Next call DRMGetIssuanceLicenseTemplate and use the issuance license to create a rights policy template. This is shown in the following example.

[!Important]If the issuance license does not contain metadata, the call to DRMGetIssuanceLicenseTemplate will fail.
Also, when creating issuance licenses that are valid for short time periods, the problem of clock skew can cause failure when the end user attempts to exercise rights. Clock skew occurs when the clocks on the server and client are not exactly aligned. For more information, see Clock Skew.
